Deer Park Girl Scout Earns Gold Award

Alessandra Bria Laucella worked on several projects to help local animals.

Alessandra Bria Laucella of Deer Park was recently awarded the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest achievement in the Girl Scout organization.

As part of her "Animal Care and Comfort" project, which earned her the award, Laucella completed two gardens for the Save-A-Pet animal shelter in Port Jefferson, helped groom horses and assisted with classes at Sweet Hill Stables in Huntington, and organized two pet supply drives.

Babylon Town Councilwoman Jacqueline Gordon honored Laucella with a proclamation from the Town of Babylon at a recent ceremony at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church.
