New Video: Firefighters Battle North Babylon House Fire
Several departments descended on North Babylon to help extinguish aggressive fire.
The routine of a Wednesday morning was shattered when a fire rapidly engulfed a home at 60 Phelps Lane near North Babylon High School.
Firefighters from several departments including North Babylon, Deer Park, Babylon, West Babylon and West Islip descended on the home located at the corner of Pacific Street just after 9 a.m.
The fire appeared to start in the back of the home and quickly spread with flames clearly visible through the roof. Thick black smoke billowed out of the home and spread across the neighborhood.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control by 10:20 a.m.
One firefighter was treated for minor injuries. The cause of the fire is yet unknown.
