N. Babylon High Has a New Principal

Jonathan Klomp replaces Raymond Williams, who is now principal of Hicksville High School.

The North Babylon Board of Education recently appointed Jonathan Klomp as the new principal of North Babylon High School.

Klomp, who most recently served as the administrator for personnel and student support services for the Lynbrook School District, replaces Raymond Williams. Williams ended a five-year stint as the high school principal at the end of the school year. He is now the principal of Hicksville High School.

Read a letter below from Superintendent Patricia Godek to parents on the appointment of Klomp:

I am pleased to announce the appointment of our new high school principal, Mr. Jonathan Klomp.  During the screening and interview process, Mr. Klomp clearly impressed the committee as the candidate of choice and, therefore, I am gratified that he will begin his eighteenth year in education as Principal of North Babylon High School.

After graduating with degrees from both SUNY Geneseo and SUNY Stony Brook, Mr. Klomp began his teaching career at Copiague High School.  He was a Social Studies teacher, basketball coach, technology mentor, and student government advisor.  After being selected to the Long Island Leadership Academy and attending Dowling College’s school administrator program, he has served as a school administrator at the department, building, and district-wide levels.

Dedicated to the study of teaching and learning, Mr. Klomp has served as President of Long Island’s chapter of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.  This organization provides professional development workshops for teachers and school administrators throughout Long Island.  Most recently he served in the central office role of Administrator for Personnel and Student Support Services at Lynbrook UFSD, but he found that he missed the daily interactions with students and teachers.

Mr. Klomp lives in a nearby community and when North Babylon advertised the High School Principal position, he felt compelled to apply to the school where he began his career as a student teacher.  As a teacher and leader, Mr. Klomp loves to attend student performances, games, and competitions.  He believes that we must educate the ‘whole child’ and that, “The goal of our schools is to produce learners who will keep on learning, and thereby contribute to society." Mr. Klomp is thrilled to be joining the North Babylon family, and looks forward to sharing in the traditions and accomplishments of North Babylon High School.
